Better Call Saul – Who Lawyer is Saul Goodman?

Saul establishes his law practice at a strip mall, and Jesse and Walt hire him as their attorney when the DEA comes after Badger.

Contrary to his tacky television commercials for Better Call Saul, Saul is actually an exceptionally proficient criminal lawyer. He maintains extensive connections within the criminal underworld and serves as an intermediary for drug distributors, evidence removers, impersonators and more.

Saul Goodman & Associates

Saul Goodman is a criminal attorney working for an “empire”. To attract clients, he promotes his services via cheesy television commercials with catchy phrases like, “From parking tickets to mass murder – we’ve got your needs covered!” Furthermore, Saul operates a website with the slogan, “From petty theft to bond fraud – Saul Goodman and Associates has the solutions for your legal needs!”

Saul displays numerous signifiers in his strip mall office that demonstrate he practices legitimate law, including his diploma from American Samoa’s university, a Scale of Justice on his desk, wallpaper depicting the US Constitution, and white plastic Ionian columns similar to those seen on government buildings. Yet his ethics are often called into question.

Once arrested, Jimmy quickly disowns both Gene and Saul personas for good. He admits his crimes and serves a seven-year prison sentence at ADX Montrose before accepting employment with Cinnabon in Nebraska despite some reservations; although not delighted about this arrangement he justifies it by saying he needs any job possible to make money.

Saul Goodman’s Office

Better Call Saul has made its office of Saul Goodman stand out as a visual highlight, with its iconic depictions of an eye-catching blowup Statue of Liberty and U.S. Constitution wallpaper creating a distinctive atmosphere befitting of someone representing Walter White and Jesse Pinkman’s empire.

As soon as Saul defends Lalo Salamanca, a flood of clients comes his way and Saul finds himself needing to expand his operation. To accommodate his growth he rents space at Mrs. Nguyen’s nail salon and sets up shop with a sign proclaiming: ‘From mass murder to petty theft: Saul Goodman and Associates is your one stop law firm.”

In the next episode, Saul attempts to negotiate a plea bargain on Hank Schrader’s widow Marie in prison room. He uses Heisenberg as leverage, but they remain skeptical. Later Heisenberg tells Marie they were his girlfriend but does not want her knowing about his criminal activities or hire Saul to get them out. Heisenberg then tells Marie He hired Saul himself so as to get out from behind bars as quickly as possible.

Saul Goodman’s Clients

Though he appears disreputable to police and lawyers due to his outlandish appearance and mannerisms, Saul is actually an exceptional extra-legal operator capable of finding legal loopholes and brokering lucrative deals on behalf of criminal clients. Saul maintains strong ties within Albuquerque’s criminal underworld network as an intermediary for drug distributors, evidence removers, impersonators, and money launderers he works with as clients.

Saul’s strip-mall office boasts several conspicuous tokens of his law practice, such as a faux University of American Samoa diploma hung on the wall, wallpaper featuring a scale of justice and white Ionian columns similar to those found on government buildings. Furthermore, there’s an enormous security guard named Huell Babineaux on patrol for added assurances of his law practice. Saul serves an array of clients from within New York’s criminal underworld such as meth-cook Walter White and Jesse Pinkman while helping them launder their money through nail salons before buying car washes in order to facilitate laundering further their drug proceeds – among many others.

Saul Goodman’s Personal Life

Jimmy McGill and Saul Goodman are two highly intelligent, cunning, and manipulative individuals who both possess remarkable levels of intelligence. However, even while practicing criminal law Saul remains a conman at heart who will do anything it takes to make money and protect his clients’ interests.

Saul enjoys collecting memorabilia and paying special attention to every detail of his business, while playing the lottery and spending time with his daughter Kim.

As Jimmy progresses in his criminal career, his persona evolves into Saul Goodman. Always ready with schemes to advance Walt and Jesse’s business interests no matter the cost, such as encouraging Gus to hire a manager for his car wash using a fake name such as Heisenberg to avoid detection by the DEA; offering to purchase Heisenberg a prepaid phone as an avenue for laundering drug profits; eventually though Saul would find himself trapped and be forced to break open his law office door using a piece of concrete.
